I’m fascinated by birds, AI, and computational biology so I’ve decided to take the Raspberry Pi running Birdnet Go in my backyard (see “My Backyard Bio-Acoustics Lab” for more information on the setup) and turn it into a nonprofit. The nonprofit helps teachers support students in learning about this amazing technology, while also contributing to citizen science with bird data. I’ve named this new nonprofit “WREN” (Wildlife, Research, and Education Network) and set up a website at the domain wreninitiative.org. I hope to distribute as many as possible to help students learn more about biology through technology, as well as learn what birds are in their backyard. Any school or teacher reading this post can submit a request form on my website.
